So at least they are the early picks, not bad I guess considering the supposed depth of this draft.S197 wrote: 6th pick in the 6th round and their 5th pick in the 7th.

Three six rounders and three seventh rounders? Hahahaha - I guess. That is a lot of ammo to have at the back end of the draft...

What constitutes the best overall draft? From the Vikings point of view, they're getting more players. If their evaluations tell them there's enough quality remaining, their moves make sense.VikingPaul73 wrote:Another trade? It makes you wonder if Ricky is more concerned with hitting his 10 pick target than getting the best overall draft!!!!! Oh well, hopefully he got better value for this trade than the last

That one actually seems reasonableS197 wrote: 6th pick in the 6th round and their 5th pick in the 7th.
So for the 8th in the 5th they get the 6th in the 6th, the 5th in the 7th, and the 10th in the 7th........do I have that right??

I guess if there's any draft to still be acquiring 7th rounders, this year would be it. I just wonder what their board looks likes if they have their BPA's being attainable in the 6th and 7th rounds.

Well of course it's a blend of quality and quantity. I'm just saying I'm hoping he sees little difference in the next 60 picks so figures he might as well get as many as possible......and not that he's just hell bent on hitting his 10 pick targetMothman wrote: What constitutes the best overall draft? I wonder if they had their eye on Sunseri before he got swooped up by the Saints.

I thought the same thing.PacificNorseWest wrote:I wonder if they had their eye on Sunseri before he got swooped up by the Saints.

I think the logic is something like, Bridgewater was essentially their 2nd round pick and McKinnon was their 4th. Yankey from the Browns was their 5th. So basically they had a pick in every round and by moving all around, picked up a pick in the 6th and two in the 7th. Something like thatMothman wrote: What constitutes the best overall draft? Don't we have 5 left?80 PurplePride 84 wrote:Christian Jones would be a steal in the 6th.
We have 4 picks left:
1 will be a Notre Dame player because Rick always has to take one.
Another will be a Spielman special that hasn't happened yet so someone from either UCLA, Louisville, Oregon St., Georgia Southern (), or Stanford.
So that leaves 2 more.

Here's an interesting chart. If you believe the conclusion, it's better to have more "darts" to throw at the board because once you get into these rounds, there's no real consistency in hits.

I am pretty surprised Yankey lasted as long as he did, but glad Spielman pulled the trigger on him. He isn't consistent, but he's a very good guard and I think he has the potential to be a long-term answer at one of the guard spots.S197 wrote:Craig Loston out of LSU is still available too.
Yankey was an all-american at two positions, team captain... I still can't figure it out. Maybe some had him projected at tackle but he'll play guard here and I think really give Johnson a run for his money in camp.

Give us CB Roberson, SS Loston, and WR Coleman the rest of the way !
