I've said from day 1 he'd be in purple next season. Having said that, I kept an open mind with the possibilities. I think any liklihood it had of happening prior today, it has even less of a chance of happening now that Gordon and Gurley are gone. The Vikings front office seems to have everything thought out very well. For example, the opportunity cost of today if they were to accept any offers they received in order to trade down in the draft. They decided it was not worth it. With that -- and with the best two backs in the draft already gone -- you're limiting the scope of being able to potentially fill yet another hole on a team that might be an AP away from the playoffs. I just can't see it happening now. I thought it had maybe a 10% chance before the drafts first round. Now? ...like 5%. It'll be down to 2% after Sunday.

Maybe now the AD trade talk will end and we'll find out how far AD is willing to take this. My guess is not far after losing almost all of last season. He may not like it, but if the choice is playing for Minnesota or not playing at all (and this time not getting paid either), he'll bite the bullet and play.

Vikings were right to play hardball on this. Regardless of what might have been said or done during the course of this ordeal, AD is way too valuable to them to let him walk for anything less than a first rounder. AD is just going to have to accept that and his 12.75 million as compensation, show up, and get to work. Who knows? After all is said and done he might actually be glad it turned out the way it did.

He will make it memorable. Like fumbling the ball on the way to the end zone in the NFCC for the loss.

It would just be our luck. :wallbang:

+1

It still amazes me how selfish athletes can be. Here's a guy who beats his 4-year-old to a pulp, yet the Vikings reinstate him. Things get ugly with the public, so they make the $10 million decision to put him on the exempt list and let him sit on his rear end all season. It's only later that the NFL suspends him. Yet somehow the Vikings mistreated him.

Go to work AP, thank the Vikings for the free $10 million, and be glad the team is willing to give you a job.

With Adrian Peterson ticketed to remain with Vikings, agent strikes new tone

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nf ... /26693963/
"One of the things that I appreciate with the Vikings is their resolve to say 'we're not trading him,'" Dogra told USA TODAY Sports. "That tells me they value him not only as a football player, but what he's done for the organization.

"I actually, as an agent, not only appreciate it — I accept it. But actions speak louder than words. If that's going to happen, and you want to keep him, then show him a commitment to make him retire as a Viking. And I haven't had that solution."

Prediction: Peterson plays his contract this year. Depending on how the season goes the two sides meet in the middle during the offseason.

Yes, and kick #### while he's at it! If AD is still AD (and I think he will be), then he's the most explosive RB in the league.

That's going to help the Vikings offense in a big way.

Amazing how that little mea culpa flower pops out of the ground when Mr. Dogma [sic] figures out he has no leverage. One of the greatest running backs in history, and nobody's willing to pony up.

Here's an idea, Dogma. Advise your client to go to work.

Well, the Vikings are willing to pony up, they just haven't shown a willingness to guarantee any of the money.

Doing what? I'm not being facetious. It's just that there's been almost no work to show up to yet. The first mandatory OTA is a month away. Peterson didn't show up for for voluntary conditioning in April but he usually doesn't attend anyway. Meanwhile, as his agent, isn't it Dogra's job to try to get his client a better deal if he can?

LOL at that... Well, the hard ball worked boyz, glad we didn't panic and throw our best player away for some crappy 2nd round pick. This whole time I thought Peterson's stance was fairly unreasonable and I think deep down Peterson probably knows that. This organization since the day he was drafted has been great to him and even though something truly awful happened over this past year that doesn't wash out all the good the team AND AD have done together. I hope AD starts to see that more and more and once we get back to playing football hopefully all can be forgotten.

Lol. The agent just wants the money for himself - not his client. He gets absolutely nothing for Peterson staying in Minnesota on his current contract. What a #### boy agent.

Dogra is sniffing too much glue.

Adrian Peterson is the highest paid running back in the league, and he's turning 30. It's not time for "Show me the money"... it's time for Adrian to earn his paycheck and "Show us some productivity".

Sure they have. AP's $13-ish million for 2015 is guaranteed.

The "pony up" I'm talking about is teams willing to trade high draft picks. Dogra thought they'd be lining up. They weren't.

Jeez, Jim. A tad literal today, aren't we? Obviously that means "go to work when it's time." Or perhaps, "Go have a great season with the Vikings" and not "Adrian has no interest in playing for Minnesota."

Yes, it's Dogra's job to get his client the best deal he can. But all he talked about for a month was how Adrian Peterson no longer wanted to play for the team that somehow jilted him. Now that nobody is willing to trade for AP (or pay his contract, most likely), Dogra's tune is changing. I'm simply asking the agent to shut the hell up.

Sorry, Dogma. Your cut of AP's $13 million is all you're going to get.

I'm not sure what you mean. The guaranteed portion of the contract has already been paid out. If you mean all he has to do is play and he's "guaranteed" to make that money this year, that's not quite the same thing. :)
Jeez, Jim. A tad literal today, aren't we?
Apparently.
