The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons are reportedly interested in Schwartz, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.

This was likely prior to Loadholt's restructure. If he does sign it'd be to play RT.halfgiz wrote:The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons are reportedly interested in Schwartz, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.

Re: march 9 is the kalil deadline
What about a two year deal for Kalil for a smaller base? Something like $5 mil this year next with incentives?

Not much reason for him to accept that. With Phil we're averaging around $6.5 million per tackle. From that perspective it's palatable.PurpleMustReign wrote:What about a two year deal for Kalil for a smaller base? Something like $5 mil this year next with incentives?

What can you realistically expect from a seventh-round pick? Their odds are so low to last. While he has the measurables he's coming off a torn pec. His ceiling is probably a backup.halfgiz wrote:Thanks for you input DP!

Correct. He can't field offers unless released.fiestavike wrote: I think its the day his 11 million salary becomes fully guaranteed.

I guess I am assuming there is NO way they offer him 11 Million.....he is bound to go on the market.

we'll know for sure in the next 30 minutes. Indications are they are keeping him around.chicagopurple wrote:I guess I am assuming there is NO way they offer him 11 Million.....he is bound to go on the market.

March 9: A big date for the Vikings and left tackle Matt Kalil. At 3 p.m. CT, the fifth-year options exercised on all contracts for 2016 become fully guaranteed. Meaning the Vikings can either release Kalil outright before March 9, or be on the hook for $11.096 million next year unless a new deal is negotiated. Kalil has struggled through injuries and poor play in three years since his Pro Bowl rookie season. Safety Harrison Smith’s fifth-year option ($5.278 million) is an easier decision as he’s likely played his way toward a multi-year extension anyway. Free agency and trading also begin on this date as all 2015 contracts expire.

Nah. The Vikings will probably pay him that. They're in a bind there but Phil's large restructure helps make his contract less imposing.chicagopurple wrote:I guess I am assuming there is NO way they offer him 11 Million.....he is bound to go on the market.
