Re: Roster Cuts
I didn't expect a Teddy Toosevelt conversation popping up, but I liked it.
Oh yeah...I'm supposed to be walking about football...

Re: Roster Cuts
I'm hoping a few of these guys make it through waivers and get on the PS. Williams always looks good against third stringers. Peters, Thomas, Thompson, Babs, and Harris also look like guys I'd want to take an extended look at.

Re: Roster Cuts
No to babs. Great story but wayyyy to much coaching. He should go to some division 2 or maybe 1 aa school get a free education and another education on football. Just my opinion.

The teams that Duron could land:dead_poet wrote:Carter's son will be claimed. Panthers?
Panthers
Jags
Browns
Cards
Bears
The young Carter has to be better than some of these teams 4th or 5th WR.

He should send them some tape.

Some analysis of the roster cuts from Ben Goessling:

In reference to the acquisition of Sirles, he wrote:
This isn't the thread in which to continue the discussion we were having here the other day but it does strike me as further evidence that Rick Spielman hasn't been giving the o-line the kind of attention it needs.
Back to Goessling's analysis: he wrote that Mike Zimmer said he prefers to keep 3 QBs and they kept Heinicke on the roster rather than running the risk of losing him through waivers.

In reference to the acquisition of Sirles, he wrote:
That line reminds me (uncomfortably) of Childress annual August move to acquire a QB.For the third year in a row, the Vikings acquired a veteran backup lineman at the final roster cut deadline.

Re: Roster Cuts
Let's remember that it's a sad day in the NFL. These guys have worked hard to try to attain their dreams of playing in the big time. I salute their efforts in helping the Vikings become a better team and hope that if they still believe in their dreams they should still hold out hope for other opportunities before their windows close.

Andrew Krammer @Andrew_Krammer
By my count, 13 of the #Vikings' initial 53 players were undrafted free agents out of college. Nearly 25 percent of roster, seems remarkable.

Re: Roster Cuts
Well yeah I understand it's his decision. I'm just simply saying that I believe he had better options elsewhere and could have probably made someone else's roster if he didnt shoot for the skyMothman wrote: But it's his life, not yours or mine, so it only has to add up for him. I don't think it's our place to say what choice he should have made. Signing with the Colts offered real benefits for him. He got the experience of working with a successful organization, that deep WR corps you're talking about, presumably he got at least some time to play with Luck in practice, etc. I think all of that's likely to help him. From what I understand, he put some good work on tape this preseason. I doubt this was his last opportunity to make an NFL roster. Heck, it's possible he'll be on another one tomorrow and he could still end up on the Colts practice squad if they liked enough of what they saw.

We'll need to make cuts for Price and Robinson correct?
