Ponder has had an uneven start but here's something I consider a positive: after 2 games, his ypa is 8.0, up considerably from last year. The Vikings have made a clear effort to push the ball downfield more. Ponder is throwing more intermediate and deep passes than he did last seasons and there were signs in Chicago that the offense and passing game are starting to come together. Ponder and Jennings appeared to be developing some chemistry, which is a very good sign. I hope that continues.

Anyway, I think the increased ypa is encouraging.

From the PFF refocused articles, they think highly of our DE's so far this year. I've thought they have done well too, even though many seem to think they aren't doing enough.

This early in the season, Viking defensive ends Jared Allen (+3.2) and Brian Robison (+3.1) have grabbed spots among the league’s top 4-3 ends as the pair have posted a sack, five hits and 17 hurries through two games and Pass Rushing Productivity scores of 9.8 and 13.2, respectively.

I hope you are right. I am one of those guys whose whole week is ruined when the Vikings lose. It makes all the other games played just blah. And to a division rival it hurts so much more. And there have been so many the last 3 years. I cant even fake optimism. I am glad you can though )

wait till you have a daughter born the same day the damn vikes get beat at home by the packers. or the first time one of your kids is in the hospital. or any number of things that will happen in your life far more important than football. once you do you will see why this board is so different with so many opinions because many of us just have different perspectives.

vikes lost a game they should have won sunday. I was pissed. then I went and watched my 2 youngest score a few goals in soccer. then I played my first round on maybe the best course in the state of Montana! and while I was still pissed as the round progressed....it had nothing to do with the Vikings!

Great post. My favorite football of the year is after the lakes turnover and I've got an 18" sucker Minnow playing tag with Muskies while Paul Allen is calling the game. Going to bring my 4 1/2 yr old out this October for his first taste of that. I've been looking forward to this all year.

You know what I did on Sunday? Instead of watching my Vikings on TV, my son and I spent the afternoon at Busch Gardens riding roller coasters. I can watch the Vikings when my son leaves for college. It's funny how your perspective changes once you have kids. I caught the last few minutes of the game on Sirius on the drive home. Was ticked they only got a FG and I knew with 3+ minutes they would lose. But such is life. The day with my son was so worth it.

Saturday we spent at Aquatica, Sea World Orlando's water park. Where BTW, I saw some real ugly people, and, had I met the man who invented spandex on the way out, I would have decked him. Some people are not meant to wear revealing bathing suits. Scary.
