Re: Stadium thread
I knew this would happen. Taxes are a dirty word. The Wilfs and the NFL could afford to pay the whole thing if they wanted to and thought it would be a good investment.

I'll bake a picture of the Virgin Mary on one. Someone will either pay full boat for it or we can charge $50/head admission. We got this, guys.S197 wrote:

He's already putting in upwards of $400 million I believe, the fourth most in NFL history.JaredAllenHavoc wrote: I thought Zygi has 350 million?

Then he should pay it and get the stadium done

Seriously, if the Vikings do move, the Vikings will NEVER EVER bring a NFL team back to Minnesota because it would cost so much more to bring back a NFL team

Vikings just said they are still sticking with Arden Hills
Re: Stadium thread
A couple of questions for those more knowledgeable on the subject.
1. Wouldn't Wilf have to sell the team to the L.A group? I thought the developers of these stadiums wanted a large percentage of ownership of the team.
2. If he wont sell then it looks like he's stuck in the metrodome unless private financing is obtained?

Re: Stadium thread
Zygi will sell the team if he can't secure a new stadium deal in Minnesota. The likely buyer(s) will be from the LA group. Now today I'm hearing that the MN government is saying they could maybe do it NEXT year, or something like that. I would be surprised if Zygi goes for it and signs a year extension on the Metrodome lease. He's probably already extremely fed up with how he's been treated so far, with the whole task of "finding a local partner" now looking like a big waste of his time & resources.
Things seem to be accelerating now. There's gonna be a lot of news in the next couple of weeks.

A pretty good article on the similarities between the Browns and Vikings:

Re: Stadium thread
You're suggesting Wilf pays $1.1 billion for a stadium that gets utilized by the team 7 games out of the year while the state benefits the rest of the time? Granted the guy is rich but he's not that rich. And if that's the case, the state should've made this clear from the start (5-10 years ago) and it would've cost Wilf a fraction of the amount.JaredAllenHavoc wrote:Then he should pay it and get the stadium done
This is more than losing a football team. It's about losing a state's identity. I see many parallels between this and when a small town loses a school. I'm seriously nervous now.

Re: Stadium thread
If the people of Minnesota don't get the deal done, they don't deserve to have an NFL team. Have fun watching the Twins, Timberwolves, Wild, and the mighty Golden Gophers.
Just crazy what they're doing. Might as well start packing the moving vans because there is no way a referendum will pass and if I were the Wilfs I'd start looking for buyers right now.

Optimism. Can't give up until it's over man. Not with something this important. It's not about a referendum, anyway.VikingLord wrote:If the people of Minnesota don't get the deal done, they don't deserve to have an NFL team. Not everyone in MN cares about sports. Such a massive art/theater/music community in MPLS/STP area. Sports is an after thought for some folks
