How is square footage of a football stadium measured? That can't be the footprint, can it?PotGoblin wrote: 4) it will be nearly twice the size of the Metrodome, encompassing up to 1.7 million square feet
I assume that would be the floor area. So decks stacked on top of one another would result in multiples to the actual footprint.Eli wrote: How is square footage of a football stadium measured? That can't be the footprint, can it?
square foot is the total ....ground space....the decks stacked on top of each other would be cubic feet.Purple Domination wrote: I assume that would be the floor area. So decks stacked on top of one another would result in multiples to the actual footprint.
Not as it is measured in traditional commercial real estate. When you hear about a 70,000sqft office building, that is typically the floor area. Again, I assume this is the number they are quoting on the new stadium as 1.7 million square feet is 40 acres and the entire site is only 20 acres.OJVIKE wrote:square foot is the total ....ground space....the decks stacked on top of each other would be cubic feet.
Cubic feet is simply the volume of the building. The previous explanation sounds correct, as I don't see how the footprint could possibly double in size.OJVIKE wrote: square foot is the total ....ground space....the decks stacked on top of each other would be cubic feet.
You would be correct. What they are measuring is all he rooms, hallways and floors. Any place you can put something on the floor basically. For example, if you have a two story house with a basement that is 40x60 you have three floors totaling 7,200 square feet, but the footprint is only 2,400 square feet. Cubic feet would be the volume of the building. From floor to ceiling.Purple Domination wrote: Not as it is measured in traditional commercial real estate. No, they say it might be translucent like that. That's the Water Cube, the swimming stadium from the Beijing Olympics 5 years ago. Nothing in the article says it'll look like that.OJVIKE wrote:and they say it might look like that...![]()

Not bad, but it still has those goofy shadows. I don't like those. But this looks ok.dead_poet wrote:A rendering of the interior of a proposed Vikings stadium from HKS Inc. The official design will be unveiled May 13 at the Guthrie Theater.
