The camel was under contract and showed up and did its job despite not wanting to be there. Probably wouldn't have been able to get more than a tired zebra and a couple of pink-backed pelicans for him anyway. Can you imagine riding a pink-backed pelican into a birthday party? It would've been ridiculous.

Dude, that camel was voted MVC (Most Valuable Camel) just two years ago, after recovering from a humpectomy to walk 2000 miles with two riders on it's back! It's no ordinary camel.

I don't believe he can retire for any amount of time and come back as a free agent. No matter how long he's "retired", the Vikings would continue to retain his rights when he came back. The Jets had to grant Favre his release.

You're absolutely correct - Vikes retain AD's rights even if he retires, which is actually worse for AD.

Reports were being made about a month ago that a MAJOR issue for AP was Warrens promotion.

My comment about the Wilfs Vs AP integrity was a reversal of the point I was rebutting which only highlighted APs on the field accomplishments as evidence of his integrity which, I pointed out later, I have never believed in. work ethic =/= integrity. My point is that there is enough evidence to support that Wilf's are the most upstanding owners in football as there is that AP is the most honest, ethical human in football.

You are correct, no one knows anything about the situation. Which is a two way street. I am starting to as tired as you of the automatic assumption on AP but for the Wilfs and management. that somehow the Wilf's and the Viking's did things wrong or are double dealing. I feel like a lot of that is stemming from them simply being "the man" in this case and if the NFL was breathing down the Wilf's neck about something everyone current skeptical of the Wilf's would be bashing the crap out of the NFL as a whole.

Again you are right, I wish people would stop making assumptions on both sides, such as AP is quietly sitting in a field petting his unicorn and shedding tears for the inhumanities in the world while also asking said unicorn, "why won't my friend-bosses let me play the game I love? All I want is to play the game I love with people I can trust fall into."

To get to a more serious note again. My big beef comes from that report (Al or Shef and a few other I believe) that indicated AP was unhappy with Warren's promotion, the report made it sound like this was a major sticking point. As far as what Happened before the NE game. If AP cannot connect the dots between the sponsors and his paycheck... I just don't know. If he is seriously requesting an employee get sacked I hope he is FORCED to retire.

I'm sure he can connect the dots but IF he was told they were going to support him and then, after he was taken off the commissioner's exempt list, Warren (and consequently, the Vikings) worked with the NFL to keep him off the field in 2014, he might very well have a legitimate gripe.

Why shouldn't he get the benefit of the doubt when the facts aren't clear? The Vikings should get it too. We don't know enough about the root issues here to determine fault, we just know trust was apparently broken.

It's funny how much these athlete's every moves (and alleged moves for that matter) are under the microscope these days. It wasn't that many years ago when star athletes were tearing it up in the off-season with no media coverage and dissection of their actions. They can't even fart in public anymore without an article being written about it and a breakdown of what they ate.

A lot of you have good points on here. Every time I am swayed into one direction on how I feel if we keep or get rid of AP, one of you makes me change my mind again.

For those of you worried about his value to us as far as actually playing for us and his age, we need to keep in mind that AP is in a league of his own.
* Papa Peterson looks like he could play in the NFL-genetics are definitely on AP's side
* Year off = fresh legs/less mileage
It just seems like for AP, ages 30 and 31 are more like 27 and 28 for every other human on this planet. To me, he has more value in purple for the next 2 years than a second rd pick, even if we are getting rid of a headache. Also, I don't know about you guys, but don't you want to see him in a Viking uniform when the new stadium opens and Teddy is nice and seasoned? APs don't just grow on trees-especially in MN sports. We need to take advantage of him as long as we can.
