I have a hard time imagining what you'd accomplish at a second interview of someone whose body of work and personality have been on public display for years. It's not like interviewing a job applicant who mailed you his resume and you saw for the first time when he walked into your office.
I wonder if the second interviews are really just meetings to offer jobs, scheduled in order of preference. If Zimmer takes the job, cancel the rest.
Jason LaCanfora's tweet seems to state here that the Vikings hire of Zimmer is imminent.
Eh... "honed in" probably just means "he's coming in for a second interview".

That's definitely possible but there are all sorts of potential reasons for a second interview. They may want to follow up on some of what they discussed the first time, after everyone's had a chance to think about it. They may have held back certain questions specifically for candidates who advanced past the first stage of interviews. A second interview is also a chance to get a second personal impression or to give someone who was present the first time a chance to form an impression. For example, maybe Spielman conducted the first interview but the Wilfs will be present the second time around.

That would make sense because if you look at our situation the Vikings HC job is not exactly the most sought after job in the NFL
1) no stadium for 2 years, 2) no Q/B for ???? 3) no defense 4) playing outside in MN...........plus I suspect some of the candidates may turn the job down if they cant have the coordinators they want. The 2nd interview is the fall back option in case that happens.

Yeah, Common's whole bit is he acts like he knows nothing about sports. I did happen to hear his comments on this today and he made this sound like he had a legitimate source that had told him that Zimmer was going to be the guy. Certainly possible.
This article indicates Zimmer is the 'odds-on favorite' to get the job. Probably. Maybe. Looking promising. Sources suggest. Possibly poised. Estimated to be. Considered heavily by others. Most likely candidate. 90% chance of being in the upper or lower half of the candidates considered...
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

That's actually great news, if it's true. Tennessee seemed like they could have the inside track to getting Zimmer because he owns a big ranch home in Kentucky, I think
I got a good feeling that by lunchtime tomorrow it will be announced that Zimmer has been hired as the new HC. The whole "2nd interview" might not really be an interview at all, he's probably already got the job.

They won a divisional playoff game by using a game plan that basically minimized their best player. 40+ Rushing attempts and they just dominated the line of scrimmage. Nothing short of awesome. The most impressive part of that for me was how well their OL executed that game plan.
There is no way of knowing if Frasier and Co could have gotten that out of those players. However, to me that isn't the biggest question. The big one is if they would have had the smarts to come up with that game plan, but also the sack to not just go with it, but commit to it. I have high doubts that would ever happen.
It just depends, if they HAPPENED to do the thing that would have destroyed the Colts on complete accident they could have pulled it off. They don't make any adjustments or changes of course so if they stumbled upon it they would have commit to it.
we'll see what bellicheck is really made of after brady retires. personally, i cannot wait to never hear brady or manning's names again. they play behind offensive lines that are so good (brady has his ENTIRE career) they could literally eat dinner while standing in the pocket.

don't think that's a coincidence. A great QB makes an oline look a helluva lot better. Peyton Manning once had Charlie Johnson as his left tackle

You mean like the 2008 season. The year they went 11-5 without Brady. The year Cassel played. The year Cassel started his first game since HIGH SCHOOL. That wasn't enough "Belichick without Brady" for you?
And OBTW, the reason they've plugged in about 25 linemen in Brady's career (and what, 3 or 4 OC's?) and always seem like they have one of the best OL's in football? Lots to do with coaching.
