Even Ponder said it was an issue after the game. He has a few weeks to get a better handle on it so hopefully, by week 1, he'll have developed those drills into a habit.dead_poet wrote:

Definitely good news! It sounds as if he'll be ready for the opener. I sure hope Carlson can stay healthy now.

Matt Kalil said he and the starting offense have been told they're not playing at all on Thursday. #Vikings

I don't know how I feel about this. The way the offense sputtered on the third pre-season game, I think the first team offense should atleast play one series.dead_poet wrote:

I don't know that one extra series is going to make them any better prepared and the Vikings have a lot of guys fighting for positions outside of starters.GQVikesFan wrote: I don't know how I feel about this. As Cliff said, I'm not sure one series would really make much difference. However, Jim Souhan seems to agree with you:GQVikesFan wrote: I don't know how I feel about this. The way the offense sputtered on the third pre-season game, I think the first team offense should atleast play one series.

I'm not sure it's time to get key starters hurt by playing them against players desperately trying to make a roster either.I just listened to Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave downplay his team's struggles during the Friday night loss to San Diego. He shouldn't be taking this approach. He should be demanding that they play on Thursday until they put together an impressive drive, however long that may take. This is no time to go soft on a young, unproven team coming off an embarrassing performance.
I like Souhan's writing at times but by the end of this blog post he was talking about Ponder's body language and how he "lacks the sixth sense that most good quarterbacks have" in the pocket. When I start reading or hearing comments like that from sportswriters my eyes involuntarily begin to roll. I consider it the kind of "analysis" that's based on mythology as much as performance.

Seriously, LOL at that Moth. Who'da thunk that a guy with a profession in Journalism wouldn't be the biggest expert in the room on Football. I think Socrates said somethign about this once? Something about oration vs. actual skill and knowledge... I digress.
It is a preseason game. Would be very stupid to get someone hurt in a televised scrimmage 10 days before the opener. Just my thought.

LOL! It was a worthwhile digression. I think that may be the first time Socrates has been mentioned on this forum.mansquatch wrote:Seriously, LOL at that Moth. Oh yes we have, remember, Socrates was that "noodle legged", undersized, #12 pick out of Florida State.Mothman wrote: LOL! It was a worthwhile digression. I think that may be the first time Socrates has been mentioned on this forum.

I sure hope the Vikes know enough to run run run and then run again. Seeing #### Spielman didnt get us a receiver, (he did however get us an overpriced TE with an injury history that im bettting may play 4 games for us) AD and Toby have to carry the load. Along with the short TE/PH passes. Thats all we have. Make AD earn his enormous paycheck. At some point, Spielman will realize the NFL is a PASSING team that requires a QB and some WRs.
